Thomas Kemper Soda
Thomas Kemper Soda originated as a small-batch brewery before expanding into traditionally crafted sodas, initially created as a non-alcoholic alternative at beer festivals. Built around classic, heritage-driven flavors—root beer, vanilla cream, orange cream, and ginger ale—the brand differentiated itself through scratch-made production methods and an emphasis on quality ingredients.
As the craft beverage market evolved, Thomas Kemper identified an opportunity to reposition the brand with a more authentic, artisan-forward identity—aligning more closely with contemporary consumer demand for transparency, provenance, and small-batch credibility.
Our engagement encompassed a comprehensive brand refresh, including logo redesign, packaging architecture, and supporting collateral. The objective was to create a cohesive visual system that signaled craftsmanship and heritage while improving shelf presence and brand clarity within an increasingly competitive CPG landscape.
The updated identity embraced a rough-hewn, tactile aesthetic inspired by traditional printmaking and hand-crafted production. Woodcut-style illustrations, earthy color palettes, and textured graphic elements conveyed material authenticity and a grounded, working-class sensibility. Typography was selected to evoke legacy and durability, reinforcing the perception of time-tested quality.
The result was a revitalized brand system that balanced nostalgia with strategic repositioning—elevating Thomas Kemper’s craft credentials while delivering a cohesive, down-to-earth consumer experience across retail touchpoints.
